hello my beautiful people of the world! i hope you are all having a fantastic week, and hope that you all enjoyed this past week of conference! i had the opportunity to go to a stake center near where i lived and watch conference! it was so awesome. being able to write down questions and having them ALL answered during general conference is the best feeling in the whole world. literally. i got to watch it in english because im #fetus and cant understand a lick of spanish still, (kidding.....kind of..) but i think im getting there poco a poco. a blessing that had happened this week really boosted my testimony. during one of the intermissions for general conf, a lady came into the church building and walked up to my Zone leader and asked is we could help her out with her house. she found out that the missionaries can do service, and wanted to know if we could help her build a new roof for her house. what we didnt know, was that her entire house had burned down, except for the concrete frame that held up the drywall. we walked through this house heartbroken. she was in tears while she was walking us through. we agreed to help her in this upcoming week! when we went back into the chapel, she walked in with a bag of food for all the missionaries, and told us what a blessing we were to help her. that made me literally cry. in the face of her opposition, she wanted to serve us and show us her appreciation. this girl wasnt even a member, and yet the love she had for a couple 19 year old kids was monumental! seriously people, she is goals. one funny thing that had happened this week was another drunk guy story. we went to go and visit a less active members house to see what the heck was up and why he wasnt going to church. when he opened the door, he saluted us with a kiss on the cheek, which freaked me out like a lot. we walked into his home, and he gave us two liters of apple juice to drink. any time we tried to talk to him, he kept shushing us and telling us that he was baptized. then his mom came in and was like"oh you! *studio audience laughter* ill go get you some more food and booze sweetie." and then left. it was so good. one of the things that i try and do during the lessons i have, is to use the things i love and express it with investigators and members. i like to use the example of taking pictures with polaroids. on a polaroid camera, you have to pick the right aperture in order for the camera to use the right amount of light, and then develop on the sheet of film. sometimes, we choose the wrong aperture setting, which then makes the picture pitch black, where you literally cant see anything. i try to relate this with repentance! sometimes, we pick the wrong setting and suffer the consequences, but with adjustments to the right setting, you can develop a beautiful picture. (at this point of the lesson, i show them a picture of my little sister or of the beach that was close to my house.) i challenge you to fix your aperture, and let the light of christ into your life! it was said in conference,"heavenly father and jesus christ have confidence in us. we need to have confidence in them that we can be healed through the atonement" love all of you to pieces! EKW little babies during conference a physical representation of how scott and i look every day. #confuzed i can still be edgy on the mission right??.....its fine me! peace out till next week peeps!
