Static...Ummmm...he......hello? is....is this thing working?
Hello friends and family!!!! This is the first ever official elder wattles email while out in the field!! thios is super weird..... anyway. i got here on tuesday night and it was crazy. going through the airport alone was kind of shookening, but I ended up figuring out all that stuff. (plus one for adulting) flying to texas was pretty ok. i met up with some elder in mexico, and we had to figure out where the heck we were isupposed to go after customs. non one in my litte group of 4 elders knew how to speak spanish or even how to go through customs, so I had to speak to the locals and tell them what the heck they were supposed to do. it was awesome. driving through mexico city was insane! traffic laws dont really exist here..... i got my badge and everything, it was pretty grand. on wednesday, we had a lot of orientation meetings and stuff. I dound out who my district was and I cannot express to you how much i love all of them! we have the biggest district you can have, and its amazing. we all have different personalities and different interest, but we mesh together so perfectly! ill give little descriptions on them at the end. we got to meet together with our branch president, presidente suarez, and they were triying to figure out who should be distric leader. they intervied all of us for like two minutes and when we came back to the group, preidente suarez looks over at me and winks and then is like; wed like to call elder wattles to be the distric leader ... SORRY WHO? LITTLE OL FETUS ME AS DISTRIC LEADER? HIJOLE. Turns out, being district leader isnt that bad. I just get to go to meetings and conduct class sometimes. teaching an investigator two days after coming here is shookening. i knew the language pretty well before hand, so teaching wasnt the worst. i read straight from a paper the whole time and made eye contact maybe once. it was grand. thursday and friday are kind of blurs. the things to do down here at the mtc are kind of routine. you wake up, go to spanish class, learn hiw to teach in spanish, and then you go to food. then you get study time and then you plan lessons for fake investigators. its pretty awesome. ive been picking up the language really fast, the gift of tounges is real!!! my companioin elder atkinson is struggling so bad with it. ive been trying to help him overcome this hurdle of the ccm, so hopefully he`ll become more fluent in it then me. there have been lots of moments where spanish is the funniest thing ever. this one hermana in my district was trying to figure out the spanish word for noodles, but ended up calling them nudes. so she was like; oh hermana! quieres nudes?!?!?! the whole district was in tears. it was so funny LOL if any of yall want to send me letters or whatevs, you can use dear elder and send one right to me for free!! hopefully i can write you back soon soon soon. sunday was awesome because that day was the first day i cried during this whole thing. not out of sadness, but straight out of the spirit. i was in sacrament meeting with the whole CCM (which is really rare cause they only do that during easter apparently) and we were singing the sacrament hymn and i was so overcome with the spirit. i was singing the sacrament hymn without a hymn book, and it was insane!! The gift of tounges IS SO AWESOME. i wish i had more pics, but the p day today is kind of yikes, we have to get haircuts cause my hair is so fetching long. plus i have to wash all my stuff and i need to study more. PICS TO COME!! ELDER WATTLES .
