hey all you wonderful people out there!! so sorry for the delayed update....the mission email servers have been down for a couple days. the good news is now you don’t have to wait another full week to hear from me again ;)
so, how are all you doing!! this week was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, BECAUSE NOW I AM A FATHER. but first, let me explain. this week in los castaños, we were able to do a lot of contacting and a lot of finding for new people to teach. we just had a purge of investigators, and so we are going around and trying to find the people that are interested in the message that we have to share. as usual, we always see super weird stuff that happens. we were out contacting this house, when we saw two cars chasing each other down the street. they both stopped at the same time, one guy got out with a baseball bat and started to hit the other car maliciously. he then gets back into the car, and then they both start chasing after each other again. #justchilethings this past saturday, we got the dreaded call from the zone leaders that rigby and i were going to have changes. we were expecting to be assigned new companions, but when it really happened, i cried (not really, i was like really sad about it though). the scary thing about getting a call before changes from the zone leaders is, it follows with a call from mission president. when you get a call from president, you get a special assignment for the upcoming change. when rigby and i got the call from president, we about peed ourselves. Pres: “hey is it ok if i talk to elder wattles?" (at this point i was literally having an aneurysm from how scared is was.) “well elder wattle we want you to train this change in los castaños." I SCREAMED. i was going to be training for the next three months to a missionary fresh off the presses! they refer to us trainers fathers because we try to teach the fresh missionaries like a father would teach his son. so on tuesday rigby got all his stuff packed, (he got transferred to the rich part of the mission) and we went to the change meeting. i got put with elder irigoyen!! hes from buenos aires, argentina, and he is super nice! he loves to ask questions, and really loves being able to invite the spirit into the lessons that we have. he is 19, and wants to work in finances after the mission. he will be going to byu too, so i will be able to see him up there in provo after the mission !!!! a little spiritual thought today, credits to my mission president. i have been reading a lot about the atonement in my personal studies and have been trying to have a more profound understanding of how it works and what it does for us. there's a scripture in 2 nefi 25:23, that says that we will be saved by his grace, after all we can do. if you go to the bible dictionary and look up the word grace, you might think it would mean that we are going to have all the bad from our lives taken from us so that we can be happy during this life. it actually says that with the help of god, and with the action that WE PUT FORTH, we will be able to withstand the trials that are put in front of us, and that we will be able to endure with the trials that we have. i think that its awesome!! god isn't going to take away the things that enable us to learn, rather he is going to help us through them and allow us to apply what we learned through out our life. super grateful for that! we can always pray and ask for the help that we need to ENDURE through the trials, and ask "why is this trial specific to me" instead of "why me?" i love all of you so much and hope that you guys have an awesome week this week!! sorry no pictures this week, i didn’t bring my SIM card....i am all off since it’s not our usual Pday. good news is there will be double the pics next week!
