hey all you people!! this week is going to be a pretty short letter...IM SORRY PLEASE FORGIVE ME. (DAD!!! I PROMISE I'LL EMAIL YOU BACK NEXT WEEK...sorrrry!!!) so my peeps, let me fill you in right quick on the little stuff. this week, one of the guys from our house went back home, and it was really hard for the ward to say goodbye to elder magadan...but we did get a new elder in here!! elder cheldule!! he is 25 and has a degree in electric engineering! he is super smart, and super humble. i think that he is going to be a sick addition to our new little clan over here. the day before magadan left, he burned some clothes outside of our house in a little pot that we had. the owner of the house came out, looked at us, and then promptly went back inside and was like,"gosh dang mormons." needless to say, i was in tears, both from magadan leaving and the passive agressiveness from our land lord. irigoyen and i have been trying really hard this past week to try and resolve doubts using the book of mormon, and the power that it had in conversion! we were able to meet with one of our recent investigators, named danilo. he is an alcoholic, and its really hard for him to wrap his mind around "changing his life for the better". he kept complaining to us how he doesnt want to completely change his life in three seconds because he is going to feel rushed and all that. i had a prompting to go to alma and look for a scripture to try and help him. i found alma 37:6, which talks about how the small and simple things will come to pass with great blessings! he was left to think about that little scripture, and we committed him to be baptized after that! i love the book of mormon! one of the cool studies that i had this week was in ether 12. in this chapter, the prophet ether goes out and starts tracting and being a missionary, but the vity that he is teaching doesnt want literally anything to do with him, because they couldnt see the things that he was teaching them (like about god and jesus christ). mosiah steps in and is like,"hey guys. dont you know that faith is literally the foundation of everything here?? without the faith in one person, they cant receive the blessings or the miracles that they want." i highly recommend going though this in your family home evening or in your own personal study because wow, i was about crying by the end of it. well i have to go...again. i hope all of you have an awesome week!! see yall in a second! EKW magadan, pa-lease don't go just some office xp and me here in chile until next week

hey all you wonderful people! i hope that you guys ad an awesome week! i dont have that much time to write this week, but i will share with you a really cool experience that my companion and i had! one of of the really awesome experiences that we had this week had to do with patience and listening to the spirit. yesterday, we were out, it was like 915, and we were struggling to find someone to teach. irigoyen wanted to go back to the house and and do some studies, because we didnt do it after the zone conference we had earlier that day. i had the feeling that we should go and teach one of our recent converts that we havent seen in a while. irigoyen got pretty annoyed, because he just wanted to go to the house. he reluctantly agreed and we went, knocked on the door of our converts house, and no one showed up to answer. my companion told me that it was a waste of time and that we should have just gone and not waste study time. i told him to wait and to be patient, and i said a little prayer in my head to have cherisner come and answer the door for us. i knocked a second time, no one showed up. third time, guess who showed up? OUR RECENT CONVERT. ON TOP OF THAT, WE FOUND ONE OF THE INVESTIGATORS THAT WE HAD A LITTLE WHILE AGO, SO WE HAD A ROCKEN LESSON WITH THE TWO OF THEM! i was literally crying. patience is like literally the hardest thing in the whole world to try and get, but the blessings that come from it are awesome!! we were able to put a baptismal date with the guy that was present in the lesson, also we are hopefully going to see a baptism here soon! other than that, this week was really chill. we were able to find a cool girl named amcarane, who took some of the lessons before we found her. turns out, the missionaries that were there before us left her only because they couldnt find her anymore. we did a little lesson with her, and we put another baptismal date with her as well! she is literally so excited to get baptized here in the future! well, i have to scram. sorry for the trashy email! ha! next week is going to be a little bit better. love you all to the moon and back! EKW our bishop took us to the dentist at 7 in the morning. love him to death (look at his dash pet??) i just freakin love chile, ok? paintball for pday today...ouch! all you missionaries in the states with tablets and androids, and im over here with an eye pad
please excuse me for the rancid title that i put on this email, but its true. this past week was literally so cold, i almost lost all my toes and fingers. the fun part about it though, is that it is going to get even colder :)). winter is on it's way...gosh dang it. please pray for me so that i can keep all my appendages attached for when i come back home.
anyway! i did a study this week on what the meaning of life is. in alma 34, there is a huge chapter that talks about how the atonement had to happen for all of us, and that we need to thank our Heavenly father for the sacrifice that christ did for us, but look at verse 31 and 32! 31 Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you. 32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors. these verses literally punched me in the throat. it doesnt matter how much money that you have, or what type of clothes that you have. who cares if your friends invite you to do drugs, or if your coworkers think its weird that you dont drink coffee! this entire life that we live is a test of our willingness to submit to our heavenly father. it is a test of how much we want to come back to live with him and our families. its true!! although we havent died and seen how great the celestial kingdom may be, we have to be the best that we can we can achieve that goal! people, have faith that the things that we do in this life will not be done in vain! there was a cool miracle that happened this week! irigoyen and i had a huge day planned out. we had a total of 7 citas set. 7 whole citas. guess what though. THEY ALL FELL THROUGH. go figure. we were literally going through every single plan b, and they all fell through. we were in the biggest pickle in our lives. we had literally two hours to try and find people and teach to meet the goals that we set, and we were not getting ANYTHING. i had a feeling that we should go and visit a less active on the opposite edge of our sector. we walked all the way over there, and he wasnt there.....we went across the street to try and ask this women to see if she knew this guys schedule, and she politely said no to us. we started talking to this woman for a little longer, and her name was alexandra. shes a police officer, but is literally the nicest women i have ever met here in chile. we started talking to her a little bit more about eternal families and how she can live with her husband and her children forever. the spirit was so strong in the contact, i literally started crying! we were able to get a return cita with her, so hopefully we are going to see where the gospel takes her!! i have to scram now, but i hope that all of you have an awesome week! love you all to the moon and back! EKW hey all you cool people out there!! i literally have lik three seconds to write, so i will make this super quick!!
this week was general conference and it was fantastic!! am i RIGHT?! one of my favorite talks that was given was, the one that talked about how we need to fail millions of times before we can get even a little close to perfect. it really got me thinking about how infinite the atonement is in our lives. like, for all the times that you have had a bad thought about yourself, or treated someone like trash, or even hurt physically.....christ suffered for all that! for all of the human race!! i can not begin to express to you how grateful i am for our brother jesus christ. also, to prepare for conference, i was reading in corinthians 14, and it tells how prophets speak to us and how they communicate their ideas. there was one verse that was really fricken awesome. "god is not the author of confusion, but of peace"-14 god has written a plan for all of us, and he knows what we are going to do. he doesn't want us to be lost in the darkness of this life, but rather to be spiritually enlightened for all the garbage that is in the world today. he communicates himself through the prophet that we have on the earth, and lets us know what we need to do. how blessed are we to have a living prophet on the earth today!! literally so sorry i couldn't write more for this week! ill make sure to add a little bit more next week! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for the birthday emails, and letters! i feel loved! 19 anos tomorrow. love you all to the moon and back !! EKW |
